چکیده

Motion capture has been recently used to provide much of character motion in several recent theatrical releases. It generally requires the recording to be done in an indoor environment with controlled light setting. This prevents directors from capturing motion in a natural setting or a large environment. In this paper we propose a method to solve this problem of motion capture in an unknown and unconstrained environment by using body mounted cameras.

The Transient Dynamics of a Beam Mounted on Spring Supports and Equipped with the Nonlinear Energy Sink

The transient dynamics of a beam mounted on springer-damper support and equipped with a nonlinear energy sink (NES) is investigated under the effects of shock loads. The equations of motion are derived using the Hamilton’s principle leading to four hybrid ordinary and partial differential equations and descritized using the Galerkin method. An adaptive Newmark method is employed for accurate an...

Accuracy map of an optical motion capture system with 42 or 21 cameras in a large measurement volume.

Optical motion capture is commonly used in biomechanics to measure human kinematics. However, no studies have yet examined the accuracy of optical motion capture in a large capture volume (>100m3), or how accuracy varies from the center to the extreme edges of the capture volume. This study measured the dynamic 3D errors of an optical motion capture system composed of 42 OptiTrack Prime 41 came...

An automated time and hand motion analysis based on planar motion capture extended to a virtual environment

In the context of industrial engineering, the predetermined time systems (PTS) play an important role in workplaces because inefficiencies are found in assembly processes that require manual manipulations. In this study, an approach is proposed with the aim to analyze time and motions in a manual process using a capture motion system embedded to a virtual environment. Capture motion system trac...

Motion Capture from Demonstrator's Viewpoint and Its Application to Robot Teaching

In this papec we propose a kind of “teaching by demonstration” method, aiming at its application to humanoid robots at home in the future. The demonstrator’s motion is captured by a pair of stereo cameras mounted on hisher head, locating very close to hisher eyes. By tracking the landmarks attached to the demonstrator’s hand and the working environment, one can estimate not only the demonstrato...

Relative Pose Estimation Using Non-overlapping Multicamera Clusters

This thesis considers the Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) problem using a set of perspective cameras arranged such that there is no overlap in their fields-of-view. With the known and fixed extrinsic calibration of each camera within the cluster, a novel real-time pose estimation system is presented that is able to accurately track the motion of a camera cluster relative to an unkn...
